1. Load Coordination and Assignment

Coordinate with brokers and shippers to schedule and confirm pickup and delivery times.

Monitor load status from pickup to delivery to ensure timeliness.

2. Driver Communication

Maintain communication with drivers throughout their trips to address any issues or delays.

Provide directions and updates about road conditions, traffic, and delivery instructions.

Assist drivers with troubleshooting issues they encounter on the road, such as mechanical problems or emergencies.

3. Tracking and Reporting

Use GPS and tracking software to monitor the location of trucks and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.

Update customers and brokers with tracking information and estimated delivery times.

Report delivery status and any incidents (e.g., delays or accidents) to relevant parties.

4. Problem-Solving

Handle route changes or load cancellations quickly and efficiently.

Resolve driver issues on the road, such as dealing with breakdowns, route adjustments, or unloading issues.

Handle last-minute changes in customer requests or cancellations and find suitable replacements for loads if needed.

6. Customer and Broker Relations

Maintain relationships with brokers and customers by providing timely and accurate updates.

Negotiate rates and terms with brokers, when necessary, to maximize profitability for the company.

Manage load documentation, including bills of lading, proof of delivery, and other paperwork required for invoicing and payment.

7. Data Entry and Documentation

Input load details into the company's system for record-keeping.

Maintain driver schedules and availability for future loads.

File necessary paperwork for load completion, including delivery confirmation and any associated invoices.

8. Team Collaboration

Work closely with the company's management to ensure alignment with company goals and strategies.

Collaborate with the safety and compliance team to ensure drivers are adhering to company policies and legal regulations.

Updating these tasks ensures that the dispatcher remains organized and efficient in managing drivers and loads, maintaining relationships with brokers, and ensuring the company stays compliant with regulations.
